Inaugurated in 2001, the Gallorose Park in Cecina, in the province of Livorno, is a wildlife centre that extends over 5 hectares and celebrates the importance of biodiversityBorn as an oasis of greenery and tranquility, the park offers visitors an educational and relaxing experience in contact with nature, thanks to its 14.000 trees and shrubs that create a shaded path of approximately 3 km. The park's mission is based on three fundamental principles: conservation, education, and research, with the aim of raising public awareness about the protection of animal species and their habitats.
The park is home to approximately 180 species of wild animals from five continents. Among the mammals, you can admire rare and fascinating specimens such as the giant red kangaroo, the Nile lechwe, the Barbary macaque, the red ruffed vulture, and the small South American puma (jaguarundi). The area dedicated to South American fauna is particularly rich, with several species of macaws, capybaras, maras, and capuchin monkeys. The zoological trail will also allow you to encounter Madagascan lemurs, golden eagles, and many other animals on a journey through the planet's diverse geographic regions.
The Gallorose Park dedicates a large section to the conservation of native domestic breeds Tuscany, many of which are at risk of extinction. Here you can get up close and personal with animals such as the Pisan cow, the Amiata donkey, the Garfagnana sheep, and the Livorno chicken. The "Farm of the World" is also home to breeds from other continents, such as Watussi oxen, yaks, and camels, offering a unique insight into global agricultural traditions.
Gallorose Park is designed to offer a pleasant day out for the whole family. Inside, you'll find several dining options, including a farm-to-table restaurant serving local specialties, a self-service restaurant, a bar, and a shaded picnic area. There's also a museum area displaying agricultural tools and relics of rural life in the past. The park is easily accessible and has ample free parking.
The park is open daily, with hours that vary depending on the season. We recommend checking the official website for updated information on hours and ticket prices. Reduced rates are available for children, seniors, and visitors with disabilities.
