Fattoria di Maiano is a fantastic 300-hectare organic farm and agriturismo on the hills of Fiesole, 5 minutes from the center of Florence. From ancient farmhouses and the cloistered monastery, rooms and apartments in Tuscan style have been created. The swimming pool, the Botanic Garden and the park with animals, the restaurant with terrace make the farm ideal for those who want to discover the authenticity of Tuscany.
The Fiesole area is a place rich in history, from the Etruscans to great Tuscan figures such as Leonardo, Pico, Boccaccio. The estate produces a certified organic Laudemio extra virgin olive oil, using a historic oil mill.
The 50-hectare Botanic Garden has over 15 km of paths, a romantic XNUMXth-century park created by Jhon Teample Leader, an educational farm with a large vegetable garden, an orchard of ancient fruits, medicinal plants and various types of animals. There is also a farm-laboratory where agriculture of yesterday, today and tomorrow is presented.
We organize guided tours of the oil mill and oil workshops, tastings, day and night off-road tours aboard Land-Rovers to discover the hidden corners of the hills overlooking Florence and to observe foxes, porcupines, roe deer, wild boars and pheasants.
In the educational farm you can visit a marked path in complete autonomy, observing the animals (ducks, geese, chickens, ostriches, Amiata donkeys, horses, cows and mini Dexter cows, Schetland ponies, Cinta Senese pigs and much more), walking in the olive grove of the Farm, up to the park of the Queen with the suggestive Laghetto delle Colonne, surrounded by a fairy-tale forest of cypresses, holm oaks and oaks, and surmounted by a tower. From here other paths open up that can be traveled in complete tranquility. And then many activities by reservation: the visit to the bee house, exploring the vegetable garden, egg hunt, baptism of the saddle.
