The Locanda Tipica, a meeting point for our guests, was created from the old ox stables and the old cellar. It is made up of various small rooms, all with exposed wooden beams and some stone walls.
During the restoration, the cattle troughs were recovered and adapted to become comfortable seats, while an ancient fireplace was placed in the centre of the largest room, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere on winter evenings.
Our Cuisine is certainly the jewel in the crown of a holiday at Cerretino, and it is no coincidence that it has received numerous awards, including those from "Slow Food" and the "Accademia Italiana della Cucina". What we offer is a simple cuisine that brings to the table the typical dishes of the Umbrian-Tuscan tradition.
You will be surprised by the genuineness of the products used, coming from our crops and livestock or, in their absence, from local farms. Every day is a rediscovery of ancient flavors that are being lost: we still make pasta, focaccia, biscuits and desserts by hand, we cook meat in the old wood oven and, in season, we offer unique dishes that are now unobtainable using herbs that the Umbrian countryside jealously preserves such as wild chard, clematis, wild asparagus, burnet, nettle.
Of course, the many specialties that the Umbrian land produces cannot be missed on the table: mushrooms, white and black truffles, red onions from Cannara, saffron from Cascia, lentils from Castelluccio, cured meats from the local pork butchers. The bread is the traditional Umbrian-Tuscan one without salt and is often homemade.
All dishes are freshly prepared to ensure the highest quality and tastiness. Every day we offer a different menu to satisfy the curiosity and tastes of all guests; we also offer entire vegetarian menus.
At the table we serve our "vino nero", a strong and full-bodied red wine made from mixed grapes with a prevalence of Sangiovese, which goes well with sauces, roasts or tasty grills, or our "vino bianco" ideal served cool on warm summer evenings. It is our custom to offer guests a good glass of grappa or limoncello at the end of the meal.
For children, specific menus are available, agreed upon with their parents based on their needs.
